1. Does acupuncture hurt?

No. Acupuncture needle are extremely thin.
Acupuncture needles are much finer than a regular hypodermic needle people associate with getting blood taken.
Most patients describe feeling a slight prick or pressure as the needle is placed and some patients don’t feel the needle at all.

2. How many treatments will I need?

Generally a course of acupuncture will be prescribed based on the presenting condition.
Acute conditions (recent onset) can usually be treated faster than chronic or long standing conditions.
Some patients respond quicker than others to treatment based on the body’s ability to heal itself and how well they respond to the therapy.
An average course of treatment will usually be 10 treatments but improvements and noticeable changes will happen after the first few sessions.

3. What do I wear to an acupuncture session?

Loose fitting clothes are best as needles are generally placed below the knees and elbows. But there are blankets to cover you up should you be coming straight from work etc.

4. Is Acupuncture for me?
